Obituary for Joseph Robert MacGregor

MACGREGORJOSEPH ROBERT

MARCH 29, 1968 – APRIL 14, 2018

It is with deep sadness that we announce Joe MacGregor (born William Joseph Cohen March 29, 1968 in Penticton, BC) passed away peacefully at age 50 surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC, after a long and courageous 9 plus years battling cancer.

Joe was predeceased by his father Pierre and his brother-in-law, Niels.  He is survived by his son, Michael; his mother, Beverly (Ynze), his step-father Robert (Sybil); his sisters Lori (Kirk, Curtis, Kayla, Isaac), Beki (Matthew, Niels, Soren), Cara (Ken, Kiana, Meghan, Jake) and his brothers, Brandon (Krista, Riley, Savannah) and Jason (Amber, Cruz).

Joe was known for his mischievous, friendly  nature, making friends wherever he went.  His passionate enjoyment of many sports was evident in his natural athleticism displayed in hockey, soccer and bocce.  Whatever he played, he played to win.  He didn’t believe in quitting, not on a field and not in relationships.  He didn’t just live to work though … he lived to enjoy family dinners, time together, milk, gravy and making people laugh.  He was a n tural story teller with a keen sense of humor, and was compassionate and reliable.  Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his son Mike and it was for him that he fought back against the disease that finally took him to his glory.  His passing has left a void that words will never convey.

Funeral services will be held at the Ktunaxa Government Building in the gymnasium located at 220 Cranbrook Street, Cranbrook, BC on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 3:00 pm.
