Obituary for Peter Wayne Morris Hanson

HANSONPETER “WAYNE” MORRIS

AUGUST 25, 1942 – APRIL 13, 2019

On the afternoon of Saturday, April 13, 2019, Peter “Wayne” Morris Hanson passed away peacefully with his daughter and granddaughter by his side. Wayne was born on August 25, 1942 in Victoria, BC

Wayne was a great lover of golf and a huge Arnold Palmer fan. Other things he loved were gambling, baseball hats of all kinds, the Toronto Maple Leafs, hockey, baking and those great burgers and fries! Wayne was also a big fan of “The King”, Elvis Presley.  In his younger years, many thought he was the splitting image of Elvis.  Wayne was a stubborn soul and really knew his mind.  But he also loved to laugh and help anyone out when they needed it.  Politics . . . oh he loved to debate the latest issues with anyone who would listen . . . you just remember, he will prove you wrong!!  One very special memory for his daughter, Tara is when he took her, along with the Nelson family down to Disneyland.  Tara did this trip with her dad instead of going with her 1988 graduating class to Mexico.  The whole trip was a wonderful memory with lots of laughs and good times.  His daughter, Tara and granddaughter, Savannah were very special to him.  His love always shone through for both of them and they both knew how special they were to him.  His grandpuppy Willow will miss him deeply.  Willow loved him unconditionally and was his loyal friend.

Wayne leaves to mourn his passing his beloved daughter Tara Hanson (Chris Mohr) and his precious and much loved granddaughter, Savannah. He also leaves behind his siblings; Mervin, Mary, Johnny, and  Ann as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Also left is his beloved aunt,  Gladys Hanson, Bob (Bonnie), the  Don and Norma Gulbe family who were very special to Wayne, the Clowers family, the  Webster family  as well as many other extended family and friends.  Wayne was predeceased by his wife, Carol in August 1974 as well as his brothers, Jim, Fred and Earl.  The family would like to thank the hospital staff for the great care given to Wayne in his final days.   Special thanks to Dr. Johnson, Dr. Brown, Kendall, Melissa, Melinda, Thelma and a special mention to the BC Ambulance Service and Peter Hecher, Unit Chief for their care in bringing my dad in to the hospital on many occasions.  Your care and compassion will never be forgotten.

At Wayne’s request, there will be no funeral service. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made in  Wayne’s memory to the Children’s Wish Foundation, 270 – 2323 32 Ave. NE, Calgary, AB  T2E 6Z3.
