On June 24, 2019 with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Roy Smitna. Lost was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Roy was born July 17, 1950 in Fernie, BC to John and Elizabeth Smitna. Roy’s influences were immeasurable, including his kind, generous and helping ways, his excitement for life, his love of the outdoors and his enthusiasm and interest in the people he met. He always had a great story to tell. One of Roy’s passions was discussing little known hockey facts, as he had a great love for the game. He also enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, her sister and brother-in-law.

Roy was a truly dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren.

Roy is survived by the love of his life, Marlene, daughter Suzanne, son Michael and four grandchildren, Rowan, Kaitlyn, Kaden and Jackson; his siblings Marilyn, John, Linda and Steve.

He is predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth, and his sister Irene.
