Obituary for John George Tadey

John George Tadey

Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of John George Tadey announce his peaceful passing on March 3, 2018 with his family by his side.

John was born on February 8, 1938 in Cranbrook, BC and resided there all of his life. He married his high school sweetheart Joyce and they celebrated 58 years together. Their family grew to include Lori Tadey and Shelly (Bill) DesChamp as well as his favourite, and only grandaughter, Chantel (Steve) Reems. Unfortunately, John will miss the birth of his first great grandchild in August.

Many nights were spent camping and fly fishing at Moose Lake and Whiteswan Lake with his family and they have many wonderful memories in their hearts. John had a great sense of humor and quick wit until the end.

John worked for The City of Cranbrook before joining BC Hydro where he was a lineman until his retirement in 1997.

John leaves his immediate family to mourn in his passing as well as his siblings: Tony (Do) Tadey of North Vancouver, BC; Mary Brooks of North Vancouver, BC; Millen (Doreen) Tadey of Cranbrook, BC, Kay (Lloyd) Wilson of Cranbrook, BC, Margaret (Sandy) Laird of Vancouver, BC and Eva Tadey of Vancouver, BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his parents John and Evka Tadey, his son John Michael Tadey, his brother Dusan Tadey, his sister Anne Tadey and his beloved four legged companion, Gooch.

The funeral mass for John will be celebrated at Christ The Servant Catholic Church in Cranbrook on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 am.

To everyone who took the time to stop by for visits, thank you for taking the time to brighten his day. To Home Care, you were all amazing and the care he received allowed him to stay in his home until the end. To Dr. Kevin McIver, there are not enough words to express our sincere thanks for the care and compassion that you gave to John over the years right up until his last day.

Those wishing to make a memorial donation in John’s honor may do so to the BC Heart Fund, BC Kidney Foundation or the charity of their choice.

Sometimes memories sneak out of my eyes and roll down my cheeks.
