Brian RACE

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Race on July 19th, 2026, at the age of 76. Brian was born on May 27th, 1950 in Bolton on Dearne, England.

Brian married the love of his life, Margaret, in 1971. Brian and Margaret then came across seas from England to Canada in 1974 and moved to a small, beautiful town called Fernie, where they welcomed two beautiful children: Peter and Amanda, and spent the next 45 years there building an amazing life together. They then moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to spend retirement together.

Brian was a hard worker at the coal mines in Sparwood/Elkford area for well over 40 years as a Shovel Operator. Brian was a very outdoorsy individual and had a love for skiing, mountain biking, and spending time at the gym (where he would sign is as Richard Gere). He loved nothing more than working on cars and find new projects to build or fix.

Brian touched the lives of so many with his profound sense of humor, warmth, creativity, and gregarious outgoing nature. He was a generous friend and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. He had a brilliant mind, disarming wit and empathetic heart. Brian had a rare gift of building community wherever he found himself.

Brian is survived by his wife, Margaret; his son, Peter (Jenene); his daughter, Amanda (Jessica); his brother, Ian; his sister, Janet; his grandchildren: Hannah (Trake), Allyssa (Timmy), Owen, Mackenzie and his great-grandson TJ, along with many more family and friends.

They will all forever cherish his memory.

Brian was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Pearl and his sister, Ann, who is now with Brian on his journey.
