Dan STE-MARIE
Daniel (Dan) Ste-Marie passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, in Creston, BC. He was born on April 7, 1951 in Longueuil, QC.
Dan is survived by his wife, Lisa Maillé; his daughter, Ria Ste-Marie Ladouceur; his granddaughter, Danika Ladouceur; his family dog, Georgie; his sister, Elizabeth, and his brother, Ron. He will also be missed by many other relatives and friends.
Dan and Lisa were married in St. Hubert, QC in 1976. Dan joined the RCMP in 1986 and served for 25 years in Ottawa, ON, working in several roles: embassy protection, war crimes investigation, and human trafficking investigations. Dan retired in 2010 and moved to Fernie with Lisa. While living there Dan assisted as staff support with the Cherished Memories Funeral Services team and became involved with the Lost Soul’s Society and assisted at the archaeological dig of the World War 1 era internment camps in Morrissey. After moving to Creston in 2022, Dan continued research into the internment camps and resumed his hobby of stamp collecting.
The Celebration of Life will be held July 30 at 6 PM at the Cherished Memories “Serenity Chapel” in Fernie. Interment will take place at Dan’s family plot in Longueuil, QC, date to be arranged.
We thank Dr. Kleinhanz of Summit Medical Clinic, the staff at Creston Valley Hospital, and the Home Care Support staff for the care given to Dan during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society or charities associated with the prevention of human trafficking or charities supporting research regarding the World War 1 internment in Canada.
