Obituary of David “Zeke” McIntosh

David “Zeke” McIntosh

October 10, 1955 ~ January 15, 2024 (age 68)

“Zeke” was born in Fernie, BC on October 10, 1955, and passed away on January 15, 2024, at the age of sixty-eight. He passed peacefully surrounded by family after a battle with lung cancer.

Zeke is survived by his four children, Adam (Terry), Corey, Christopher (Nick) Lacey (Tania), grandchildren; Sterling, Adalynn and Jax, brothers; Larry (Georgina) McIntosh, Robbie (Dalilah) McIntosh, Jackie McIntosh, sisters; Shirley (Matthew), Zuffa, Audrey, and Barbara McIntosh, Carol (Ken) Anderson, his chosen brother, Armond, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jessie and Nelson McIntosh, sister, Isabel and brother-in-law, Ewald.

Zeke started working at the age of sixteen for the Elko sawmill. He also worked for the City of Fernie for over thirty years, some say he was one of the best grater operators around.

Zeke enjoyed hunting, was a master fisherman, loved bush cruising, and spotting tamarack for the Winter wood supply. He enjoyed watching hockey and playing slow pitch. Zeke even gained the nickname “whitetail” by running so fast around the bases! In his down time, he loved to play Keno and have a Budweiser with family and friends.

Zeke’s children describe him as not only an extra ordinary father, but also as an exceptional man. He was an angel on earth and has now gained his wings, though far too soon.

A Celebration of Life will take place this Spring or Summer.
