He was born and raised in Trail. A graduate of J.Lloyd Crowe High School, Donald went on to earn a BSc(Biology) degree from the University of Victoria. He became a teacher, working in the Northwest Territories and Alberta for years. In later life Donald worked as a custodian for School District Number 5 in Cranbrook up until going on disability leave in 2025.

A thoughtful and compassionate person, Donald enjoyed comics, graphic novels, science fiction and fantasy.

Donald is pre deceased by his grandparents , Vera and Bill, his mother Yvonne and father Ted.

He is survived by his sisters Lynn and Heather, his cousins, his extended family and his many friends in Cranbrook.
