Obituary of Eva Berit White
Eva Berit White
It is with great sadness that the family of Eva Berit White (nee Halvorsen) share that she passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Eva was fiercely loved by her family – her husband George, her daughters Kari (Nelson), Amy (Anders) and grandchildren Chimera, Josh, Max and Molly, and her sister Kari (Ken) and nephew Kai (Angela). She will be deeply missed.
Eva was not only loved by her family, but by her wide circle of friends, many who were life-long and more like family than friends.
Born in Gjerdrum, Norway, Eva moved to Canada first at the age of seven. The family returned to Norway shortly after, but the family returned when Eva was 13, making Canada their home. She maintained a love of the outdoors throughout her life. She enjoyed hiking, kayaking, skiing (downhill and cross-country) and walking (she walked like a letter carrier even before she was one!).
She worked for Canada Post for almost 20 years starting in the mail sorting room but finishing her career as a mail carrier – a job she loved.
Once George retired, they took on a new adventure – moving to Vancouver Island – where they had almost 10 years’ worth of adventures including the purchase of remote ocean front property in Quatsino Inlet, which she would tell people was her favourite spot.
George and Eva would have been married for 55 years this fall, and they were truly life partners in everything. At Eva’s request, there won’t be a service.
The family would like to thank some of the nurses at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital who provided Eva with excellent care – Serena, Brit, Zachary, Amanda and Jayden.
