Obituary of Frank Joseph Dreksler

Frank Joseph Dreksler

July 7, 1930 – March 3, 2026

In loving memory of Frank Joseph Dreksler, born on July 7, 1930, in Mecinka, Poland, to parents Joseph and Tekla Dreksler. Frank had three sisters: Aniella, Katherine, and Helen, as well as one older brother, Yohann.

In 1949, at the age of 19, Frank immigrated to Canada on a work visa and began working on a farm in Saskatchewan. He later moved to Ontario, where he worked in a factory before joining the railroad as part of the section gang, laying tracks and clearing snow during the winter. Eventually, Frank relocated to British Columbia, where he worked at the Rayonier Saw Mill in Vancouver and later at the pulp mill in Skookumchuck, finishing his career as a first aid attendant.

Frank had a passion for gardening, swimming, fishing, canoeing, and sailing on English Bay. He also taught dancing for a few years in Vancouver. In his later years, Frank could often be found tending to his garden from morning until afternoon.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; nieces Brenda and Sheri (Ontario); nieces Jenny and Katherine; nephews Daniel, Nolan, and Jack (Massachusetts); and family in Poland.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
