Obituary of Frank Odnokon

Frank Odnokon

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of our father Frank Odnokon of Jaffray BC.

Frank passed away peacefully with family by his side on June 29th at the Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie BC. He was 92 years old.

Frank was born in North Battleford Sask, on April 20 1934 (4-20 as he often referred to it). Many of you will know the reference to this date.

He was raised on his parents (John, Mary) farm with eight brothers and two sisters. When dad left the farm he went on to numerous other careers that took him from Saskatchewan to Ottawa, Alberta and finally British Columbia where he was self employed for a number of years cleaning air filters for industrial equipment. His business card would read: “Airflo Filters. Not getting Airflo you must be choking.” He always loved to make a play on words. It didn’t matter the topic or situation he could pull a dad joke out of it. That was his way, no matter what he was doing, when asked how he was the answer was always 100%. Franks final career was a custodian at the Jaffray School where he worked until retirement.

Frank had two marriages, the first to Bernice Odnokon (nee Pratt) they had two sons Shawn and Lonnie Odnokon. Dads second wife Lorna Odnokon (nee Campbell) Lorna had three children Marla Hayden (Nee Pickering) David Pickering and Robert Pickering. Mom and Dad also raised, from infancy through graduation, Alicia Archambault.

Dad, Grandpa loved his family. He especially loved being with his grandchildren and they loved being with him. He and Nana (Lorna) always had time for them. One of the best memories would be his love of music. He had many musical instruments from guitars to violins, pianos and accordions. He may not have played them all well but it was his music and he had a great time playing them. So many memories not enough paper.

Dad is lovingly remembered by his three sons David (Karol),Robert (Donna), Shawn (Deb) and one daughter Marla (Mark). Dad was also blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren nieces and nephews.

Dad was predeceased by his wife Lorna and son Lonnie.

A private family service will held at a later date.
