Obituary of Gordon Harvey Leduc

Gordon Harvey Leduc

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Leduc at the age of 83.

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Gordon attended Vancouver Technical Secondary School. After graduating, he moved to Trail, British Columbia, where he began a mechanic’s apprenticeship with Kay Motors. It was in Trail that he met the love of his life, and together they shared 62 years of marriage.

After completing his apprenticeship, Gordon continued his career with Cominco in Trail. His work later brought him to Elkford, British Columbia, where he joined Fording Coal. Known for his mechanical skills, strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to help others, Gordon worked with Fording Coal until his retirement.

During his years in Elkford, Gordon was a dedicated member of the community. He served as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years, from 1974 to 1999, and was also a member of the Lions Club. Gordon further gave his time as a volunteer with Wapiti Ski Hill. His many years of service reflected his generosity, community spirit, and commitment to helping others.

Following his retirement from Fording Coal, Gordon and his wife moved to Cranbrook, British Columbia, where they made their home.

Gordon will be remembered for his quiet strength, practical knowledge, sense of responsibility, and devotion to family and community. Whether at work, volunteering, or spending time with those closest to him, he made a lasting impression on the people whose lives he touched.

Gordon will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, his daughter, his two sons, and his extended family, friends, former coworkers, fellow firefighters, Lions Club members, and fellow volunteers.

Although his passing leaves a great void, Gordon’s memory will live on through the family he loved, the friendships he formed, and the communities he served.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday October 10, 2026, at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Forever loved. Forever remembered.
