Obituary of Hans Juergen BUEHRING
Hans Juergen BUEHRING
Hans shared 66 years of marriage with his wife, Margot, a partnership that spanned most of his life. He was always proud of the family he now leaves behind, including his two daughters, Sabine (John), Irene (Alain) along with four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was known for his unmistakably strong handshake, a small but memorable trait recognized by all who knew him. His story of immigrating from Germany to Canada was one of courage and uncertainty. A journey that set the stage for the generations that followed him to seek adventures of their own.
Six years ago Hans and Margot made another bold move to Fernie to be closer to family and embraced the small mountain town lifestyle.
Earlier in his life, he explored the teachings of the Self-Realization Fellowship, which became an important part of his spiritual journey.
The family would also like to recognize Angel Flight, a charitable organization that provides air transportation for patients travelling from communities in the BC Interior to Kelowna for medical treatment. Hans was grateful to have this service available to him during his own medical care.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Hans’s memory may consider making a donation to Angel Flight.
His family is incredibly grateful for all of the support and care he received from the staff at Elk Valley Hospital and the local palliative nursing team. Hans was especially grateful for the kind care and attention he received from Dr. Stuckey.
Hans will be deeply missed by his family.
