Obituary of Helen Margaret Murray

Helen Margaret Murray

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Helen Margaret Murray, on December 24, 2025.

Helen was born on November 27, 1944, in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1975, she moved to Canada, where she embraced a life filled with new beginnings and many adventures. She was fortunate to marry the love of her life, Jerry Murray, on June 23, 1990. Together, they treasured each day as a gift, sharing countless adventures and a deep, enduring bond. Jerry was her soulmate and remained lovingly by her side until the very end.

Helen found joy in singing, reading, knitting, and spending time outdoors, but above all, she loved being with her family. She will always be remembered for her vivacious laughter, her beautiful smile, and her kind and generous heart.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Jerry, daughters Jacki (Rob), Kirsten (Vince), sons Shane (Chanin), Wayne (Cheryl), brother Kennith, and grandchildren, Rylan, Tyson, Ally, Abby, Blake, Evan, Logan, and Kiana as well as dearly loved nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Isa and John Robertson, brother John Robertson, and sister May Kennedy.

In remembering Helen, we find comfort in the words of Mary Elizabeth Frye:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there. I did not die.

Helen’s love, spirit, and presence will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

We would like to take this opportunity to give heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses and care aids at the Kimberley Special Care Home. It did not go unnoticed. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
