Obituary of Isabel Margaret Thouret

ISABEL MARGARET THOURET (KIMM)

APRIL 21, 1931 – OCTOBER 22, 2021

Isabel Margaret Thouret was born April 21, 1931 and passed away peacefully with family at her side on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.  Isabel was raised in the Columbia Valley and spent her younger years growing up in Windermere and Radium areas.  On June 6, 1953 she married Edward and they started their wonderful life together in Invermere.  They were joined by their three children Anna Jean, Mike and Wally.

While raising the family, Isabel was involved with Kinsmen Kinette Club as well as enjoying her time with the curling club.  This later grew into one of her favorite pastimes as Nana enjoyed watching the Scotties tournament on TV and she also kept up with NHL hockey and golf.

In her working years, Nana gave her time and service to BC Telephone as an operator and later a customer service agent for Sears Catalogue.  As a result of their years of hard work she and Ed were able to enjoy many years of retirement together.  During this time of enjoyment, Isabel and Ed were known to travel to Scotland, Australia and Fiji as well as Alaska.  They spent many winters in the golden Arizona sun playing shuffleboard and enjoying happy hour with friends.  Family was also important to Isabel and showed her kids, grandkids and great grandkids what good baking tasted like.  Nana was known for her buns, humpback cookies and date squares as well as many other family favorites.  Other special family memories include camping at Whiteswan and Premier Lakes, the 1972 across Canada trip and uncountable laughs around the table at family dinners for Christmas, Thanksgiving and other special occasions.

Left to share in her wonderful memories are her loving husband, Edward; children  Anna Jean (Gary), Michael, Wally (Wendy); grandchildren Steven (Wendy), Carly (Gerald), Tyler (Kianna), Lindsay (Sam), Sheldon (Kristy), Amanda (Thad), Jamie (Amy) and great grandchildren; Camryn, Bailey, Landon, Isabella, Avery, Sonny, Theodore, Eliana, Tanner, Harrison, Tyson and Emma.  She also leaves her sister Jean and her loving extended family of many nieces and nephews as well as many friends she made over the years.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the caring staff of the EKRH in Isabel’s last days.  There will be no funeral service at Isabel’s request.

Please raise your glass in her honor –

“To Nana”
