Obituary of Laszlo Markus
Laszlo Markus
Laszlo Markus passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia, on November 1, 2025, at the age of 90. Laszlo was born on February 12, 1935, in Csorna, Hungary. He was predeceased by his parents, all of his brothers and sisters, his wife Gizella, his son Alexander, his grandson Jayson Wenszoski, and his loving partner of many years, Sabina Cote. With great sadness, he leaves behind his son Les Markus, daughter Irene (Rod) Robertson, and son Steven (Missy) Markus.
Laszlo was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Europe. At the age of 20, Laszlo and his wife Gizella bravely escaped Hungary during the war and made their way to Canada, where they raised four children. Laszlo worked hard throughout his life in the mining and forest industries, living in many small towns across Canada before finally settling in Radium Hot Springs, B.C.
There he met Sabina, and together they shared many happy years. Laszlo loved the outdoors—especially hunting, fishing, and huckleberry picking. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public service. His family will hold a private farewell this summer to celebrate his life and remember the many ways he touched their hearts.
“Forever in our hearts.”
