Obituary of Lillian Jean McKay
Lillian Jean McKay
Lillian Jean McKay (Dorwart) was born Oct 2nd, 1936, in Grenfell, Saskatchewan, to Jack and Rose Dorwart.
She met her husband, Clarence McKay, in Oliver, BC. They spent many of their early years together following Clary as he worked on various pipelines throughout western Canada, eventually settling down in Cranbrook, BC. They would spend the rest of their lives watching their 4 sons grow and later their families as well. Lil and Clary were married for 61 years. Their home became the centre point for their families, where many Sunday dinners were shared.
Lil was a member of the Mount Zion Lutheran Church for most of her life. She had a strong faith in God, and she shared her faith through her singing. Lil loved to be outside, especially in her garden or tending to her flowers. She would love to talk and share stories and would never turn anyone away. But most of all she loved her family.
Lillian is predeceased by her parents Rosalie and Jacob Dorwart, her husband, Clarence and her sister Phyllis Becker. Lillian is survived by her sisters Louella Steffen, Eileen, Fisher, and Sharon Fantuz, her four sons, Ken (Lesley), Dean (Gale), Dana (Joann), and Wade (Carmen); and her grandchildren: Tyler, Shannon, Holly, Brendan, Becky, Alison, Christina, Jacob, Jordan, Melody, Evan, Nathan, and Jared, and her 21 great-grandchildren.
Lillian passed peacefully at home on Monday, November 24th, 2025, surrounded by her family after a short battle with leukemia.
