Obituary of Luigi “Louie” Musso
Luigi “Louie” Musso
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Louie Musso on September 20, 2026, at the F.W. Green Home, with his family by his side, following a long and courageous journey with early-onset Alzheimer’s.
Born in Nelson, British Columbia, on October 2, 1964, to proud parents Frank and Rita Musso, Louie eventually made his home in Cranbrook, where he became a cherished member of the community.
Louie was truly a jack of all trades. Throughout his life, he wore many hats from driving crew buses for CP Rail, to working in realty, welding, and owning Walkleys Meats. He was never afraid to try something new, and one of his greatest dreams was owning a fishing lodge, which led to his passion project, Ultimate West Flyfishing.
Louie was also deeply involved in his community. He served as President of the Colombo Lodge, the President of the Cranbrook Minor Hockey Association, and served as Chairman of Sam Steele Days. He had a natural ability to connect with people and was someone who could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a true people person, and his generosity and kindness extended far beyond his immediate family.
Above all else, Louie was a family man. When his home was full of the people he loved, with family and friends gathered around the table, enjoying good food, good conversation and plenty of laughter, it was these things that made him happiest. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. If you knew Louie, there was always a place for you at his table.
A proud Italian, Louie loved to cook, often singing along to Dean Martin as he did. His kitchen was a place where people gathered, and sharing a meal with Louie was never simply about the food it was about bringing people together.
Louie was hardworking, generous, funny and mischievous, with a larger-than-life personality that will never be forgotten. He would give the shirt off his back to someone in need and never hesitated to help a friend. His warmth, humour and generosity left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He loved the mountains and could often be found hunting alongside his dad, son, brother, grandchildren, nephews and friends. Fishing and hunting gave him some of his happiest memories, surrounded by the people he loved and the places he loved most.
For 38 years, Louie shared his life with his wife, Sheri, who was not only his wife but his best friend. Together they built a life filled with family, friendships, adventures and countless memories.
Louie loved nothing more in this world than his children. Being a Dad was his greatest joy and the role he was most proud of. He was happiest when his children were around him, and his family was always at the heart of everything he did.
Later in life, Louie found a whole new kind of happiness in becoming a Nonno. His grandchildren quickly became the centre of his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sheri; his children, Alyssa (Matt), Gino (Steph) and Amanda (Tyrone); his grandchildren and pride and joy, Kinslee, Kasen, Lou and Gus; his sister, Theresa; sisters-in-law, Maria and Debbie; mother and father in-law as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Louie was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Rita Musso; his brother, Vincenzo Musso; and his granddaughter, Harper Musso.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Joseph Creek, Rocky Mountain Village in Fernie, and especially the staff at the F.W. Green Home for the care, compassion and kindness they showed Louie over the past two years. A special thanks to Dr. Ken Brown, Cameron, Tracey, Renee, Steve, Chantal and Wanda for their care and compassion during Louie’s final days.
