Obituary of Maurice Moe PLESSIS
Maurice “Moe” PLESSIS
It is with broken hearts that the family announces the passing of Maurice “Moe” Plessis, who peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on March 18, 2025, at the age of sixty, after a two year battle with cancer.
Born on May 5, 1964, to the beloved parents Edmond and Mildred Plessis in Kenora, Ontario, Moe’s early years were filled with love and the strong bonds of family. In 1969 on Maurice’s 5th birthday, the Plessis family moved to British Columbia, where Moe developed a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. After graduating in 1982, Moe met and married the love of his life, Tara, in 1992, and together they built a beautiful life. He was overjoyed when Logan arrived in 1995 and didn’t miss a beat settling into the role of “Dad” and even had the best dad jokes.
Moe dedicated thirty years to his career at Teck’s Greenhill’s, spending twenty years on the blasting crew, where he forged many lasting friendships. His colleagues admired him not only for his strong work ethic but also for his infectious sense of humor and lighthearted nature.
Moe shared a deep love for music with his father and son, and no drive with him would be complete without the sounds of REO Speedwagon filling the air. He was also an avid fan of live sporting events and enjoyed numerous NHL and MLB games. His passion for sports brought him joy and a sense of connection to others, and he cherished every opportunity to attend a game.
Moe leaves behind his beloved wife, Tara; his son, Logan; daughter-in-law, Miranda; parents, Edmond and Mildred Plessis; his fur babies, Barkley, Boomer, Lucy and his cherished grand fur babies, Rupert and Sully. He is also survived by his siblings: Yvette (Scott), Ron (Diana), and Marc (Christa), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, brother and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Moe’s warmth, humor, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to lifelong friends Daryl Casselman and Norm Wolfe for your unwavering support especially over the last two years. Your friendship means everything, and we are so thankful for the brotherhood you forged.
Thank you to Dr. Rader, The Sparwood Home Health Team, the doctors, and nurses at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital Oncology unit, as well as all the other health care professionals we have encountered and received support from over the last two years.
Rest in peace, Moe. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
