Obituary of Sandra Jane Rahal

Sandra Jane RAHAL

March 12, 1941 ~ May 27, 2021 (age 80)

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sandra, Mom, Grandma, GiGi and friend after a lengthy illness. She was our pillar of strength, kindness, and positivity.  She was deeply loved, and she will be greatly missed.

Sandra was born in Fernie, BC to biological parents, Robert and Angelina Scales.  After the death of her mother at the young age of six, Sandra was raised by Ross and Victoria Colgur.  In 1963 she married the love of her life, Don Rahal, celebrating their 58th anniversary before her passing.

Sandra will be dearly missed by her husband Don of Fernie, BC; daughters Cindy (Garry) Gleisner, Melanie (Wilf) Serwatkewich, and Dawn Rahal, all of Calgary, AB; grandchildren Tyson (Kayla), Tanner (Kaitlyn), Taylor and Nicole, and her great grandchildren Harlow, Everly and Hayes. She is also survived by her brother Tyrone (Valerie) Colgur and her sister Marlene Murphy.  Sandra was predeceased by her biological parents, Robert and Angelina Scales, Ross and Victoria Colgur, and her sisters Fiona Marasco and Karen Mansbridge.

Family was Sandra’s greatest love!  Her second greatest love was her wonderful friends and talking on the phone with them, sometimes more than once a day!  We are all going to miss getting those phone calls.

Before illness made things difficult for her, Sandra enjoyed reading, cooking, and of course her daily trips to the grocery stores where she would happily chat with those she met along the way.  When she was not spending time in Calgary or Montana, Sandra enjoyed family time at Rosen Lake.

Sandra was kind-hearted, loving, and courageous.  Whatever life threw her way, she faced it head on, with a smile on her face and courage in her heart.  She taught us all that, and we were blessed to have shared in her beautiful life.

“If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.” –  David Ellsworth
