Obituary of Shirley Ife

Shirley Ife

It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Ife on March 28, 2026. Shirley was born in Kingston, Ontario on July 15,1936. She spent her childhood there and even went on at a very young age to become a nursing aide which she worked at until she met her soon to be husband Douglas Ife. After marriage they moved out west to begin their life together, and eventually settled in Cranbrook B.C. Shirley was a long time employee of the FW Green Home. After retirement Shirley spent her time reading, knitting and daily household tasks. Shirley was a spunky person who loved to joke and make people laugh and enjoyed great visits with family and friends. Shirley was a wonderful supportive mom to all her children and was always there when she was needed. She loved adding another year to her age and was very proud of the years she had.

She was predeceased by her husband Douglas of 67 years and they had a wonderful long marriage. Shirley was also predeceased by her sisters Marlene and Sharon. Also by her loving and caring daughter Rhonda and her grandson Michael.

Shirley leaves behind her children Tim (Cheryl) , Linda (Rob) and her son Brian who was also a loving caregiver for her. She also leaves behind a niece Dianne (Dean “her boyfriend”). Shirley had a special saying when things went awry and that was “over the fence” she could be heard saying that daily if a problem arose.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s society or the Cancer Society which were both close to her heart.

Rest in peace our sweet Mom and for now “Toodaloo”
