Obituary of Victor CIBULKA
On August 14th, Victor Cibulka passed away suddenly at the age of 89.
He was born on a farm in Limerick, Saskatchewan to Agnes and Florian Cibulka in 1937. Farm life gave him the work ethic and appreciation for the outdoors that he would bring to the Elk Valley in 1956, when he came looking for work. Before long, he had a job at the mine, room and board in Michel-Natal, and the attention of Pauline Androlick, the woman who would become his wife. The two married in 1958 and would move to Sparwood into the house they built themselves, with the help of family and friends. The following decades would be spent doing all manner of things outdoors and raising their two children, Lana and Brent. Various other hobbies kept him busy; between Summers at Koocanusa Lake and traveling across Canada and parts of the US.
Vic was predeceased by his wife, Pauline and survived by his brother, Walter (Marlene Cibulka), children, Lana (Bud Haycock) and Brent (best friend Amber Dean and her children Brady, Nolan, and Carter); grandchildren: Deanna, Carsen, and Bailey (Annie Marks) and many other relatives and friends. Shortly before his passing, Vic was overjoyed to learn of the impending arrival of his first great grandchild.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rader, the staff at the Sparwood Health Centre, Elk Valley Hospital, and East Kootenay Regional Hospital for their incredible care. A service will be held at St. Michael’s Church on August 24th with support from Cherished Memories.
