Obituary of William Henry Renwick
WILLIAM (“BILL”) HENRY RENWICK
MARCH 13, 1955 – JULY 30, 2023
William Henry Renwick (Bill) was born to proud parents Doris and Vern Renwick in Saskatoon, Sask.
Bill was a spirited, sweet and curious boy full of mischief who grew up with skates on his feet and a guitar in his hands. He played Hockey his whole life, from skating on frozen waters in Saskatoon to local hockey leagues. He played trumpet in the school band before he taught himself how to play guitar. Bill excelled at the arts, sports, anything outdoors and especially music, playing anywhere from around the fire to local stages and to the captivated audience of his children. He was in many bands over the years and had a playing style all his own, with influences from the greats like Neil Young, Tom Petty, The Band and CCR. In high school he was captain of the football team and valedictorian, however in his senior year he was also expelled for several days for riding a motorcycle through the school halls. Bill was always spiritual and loved camping, hiking, swimming, hunting, fishing and skiing. He also loved to socialize with everyone, no matter where he went or if he knew you or not. He was a great performer, writing his own music and songs, singing, playing guitar and harmonica. Bill had an incredible work ethic, through shift work and long hours as a powerhouse engineer for CPR and then at the Skookumchuck Pulp Mill from which he retired in 2018.
Bill met his first wife Marielle in Calgary AB, welcoming her daughter Amber as one of his own. Then Stuart and Colleen followed. They made their home on an acreage in Cranbrook, BC, often making his children cringe with all his punny Dad jokes. Bill later married Lori and they lived with their blended family in Kimberley, BC. He was most proud of his children, grandchildren and all the dogs. He was a very involved father and grandfather, always going the extra mile to be there for them as much as possible.
Bill was full of fun, laughter and compassion and was a great hugger. Bill was a Hippie at heart who loved love and music which he played until the very end. He believed in living minimally, only worrying about the things that matter the most, people and love.
This gentle man will be missed by all that knew him and were touched by his warm calming presence.
Bill is survived by his children:

The world has lost a great man, a father, a grandfather, a brother, a friend, a legend.
