1864 Gala Dinner and Concert Dec. 9

Join in the elegance of the gala evening of fine dining, entertainment, history and music during the 1864 – Gala Dinner & Concert on Wednesday, December 9 at 6 p.m. at the Royal Alexandra Hall – Cranbrook History Centre.

1864PosterCrop300The evening will unfold with a themed dinner taking you across Canada in the year 1864; from the regal opulence of the Charlottetown Conference to the humble simplicity of homesteaders establishing themselves on the new frontier.

The dinner will feature a four-course menu developed by Rusty Cox from The Heid-Out, highlighting recipes and ingredients common to the era.

Historical characters from Sir John A MacDonald to Colonel James Baker will come back to life with brief snippets and conversations that will transport you to a point in time just before the nation formed.

Pianist Michael Kim has brought audiences to their feet with his outstanding technique and refined artistry. A gifted performer, he has been praised by The Globe and Mail for his “consistently high level of professionalism and musicality.”

Mr. Kim will share insightful commentary about the piano and the era along with his performance of works by Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms and Debussy (representing the pre-confederation era), and Gershwin will be included as a look ahead to the future.
