Improvisation is fun and frees the creative spirit in a positive and safe environment. Through improvisation we create spontaneous stories. The great thing about improv, is that when you get it right you look like a genius, and when you get it wrong you look like a comic genius. It’s like play-time, for grown-ups.

Join instructor Jon Briden for this exciting and fun series of classes taking place in the theatre at The Arts Station. Jon has been performing, teaching, and directing improvisation for 25 years. He started out his improv journey in Christchurch, New Zealand, and from there moved to Sydney, Australia. He has studied under some of the best improvisation teachers in the world, including Keith Johnstone (Calgary), Jason Chin (Chicago), Per Gottfredsson (Sweden), and Ed Illades (New York). As well, Jon has been a regular performer in a huge variety of improvised shows, as well as directing and co-producing shows of his own. He is a popular and knowledgeable teacher, who helps new improvisers to develop their own unique playing style and quickly become confident on stage.

Learn a new skill, meet some other performers or become a wildly confident one! This class is perfect for people of all abilities and background – from the theatrically experienced to the curious. Sorry, but the age to participate is 16 and up….
