Lots happening during First Saturdays Kimberley

First Saturdays Kimberley is a monthly celebration of arts, culture and heritage that brings together local and regional artists to perform, display and share their talents.

1st Sat 4Following up on an incredible day of events in August, the Kimberley Arts Council has another amazing line-up of local musical talent and art workshops planned for First Saturdays Kimberley on Saturday, September 5.

Beginning at noon until 4 p.m. in the downtown Platzl area, live music will be on at the Gazebo while a number of local artists display their wares.

A big part of First Saturdays Kimberley is to make different art disciplines accessible to the community through free demonstrations and workshops.

This month:

Local artist Tony Austin will have two workshops at noon and 2 p.m. in Sumi-e, the art of ink wash painting.

Fibre artist, Darcy Wanuk will offer a drop-by and give it a try opportunity to make a felted beads using merino wool.

Lori Craig will be doing two creative stitching workshops at noon and 2 p.m. exploring beautiful stitches, colourful dyed wool, a variety of threads, and fun printed fabrics.

Centre 64While the workshops are free, registration through Centre 64 is strongly recommended.

And in their ongoing efforts to raise funds for the future splash park – the Rotary Lunch Wagon will be on hand at 11:30 a.m. in the Platzl offering Taco’s in a Bag – $7.

The Kimberley Library will be open and continues its First Saturday themed children’s story-time at 2 p.m.
