Spring into Bluegrass at Royal Alex March 28

Fisher Peak Performing Artists Society presents a spring concert at the Royal Alexander Hall on Saturday March 28.

The show – Spring into Bluegrass – will present two exceptional folk/bluegrass bands.

SteamboatredgirlRedGirl is a well-known Kootenay bluegrass/folk band bring their unique style and professional performance to the stage, highlighted by the exceptional vocals of Anie and Mike Hepher, complimented by the string ensemble of guitars, ukulele, banjo and mandolin with strong support from local string maestro Keith Larsen.

The Rosie Brown Band (lead image) is a unique, fun and rewarding listen. A five-piece bluegrass/folk ensemble featuring Paige (banjo), Cosima (guitar), Janice (upright bass), Shawna (mandolin), and Heather (dobro and guitar), blending five wonderful voices featuring classic old timey music and original tunes. Recently they were showcased at the Calgary Stampede and this performance will see the official release of their first album.

The gathering will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Wine and Cheese Social. (A few beers will be served for brew lovers.)

In keeping with our continued commitment to the environment we ask attendees to bring their own wine glass, for a discount on their first drink. A variety of interesting nibbles will be served for a modest price.

The show starts at 7:30 and there will be a half hour intermission and half social after the show.

Tickets are $15 for Fisher Peak members and $20 for non-members available at Lotus Books, the Cranbrook and District Arts Council and Snowdrift Cafe in Kimberley.

A limited number of tickets are available (200 will be printed).

This is a fundraiser for the Fisher Peak Performing Artists Society in support of local musicians and Summer Sounds 2015.
