Cranbrook & District 4-H Show and Sale June 1

Community Futures East Kootenay (CFEK) is pleased to announce its participation in the Cranbrook & District 4-H Show and Sale. The auction is to be held on June 1 at the Wycliffe Exhibition Grounds with the show beginning at 10 a.m. and the sale commencing at 4 p.m.

There will be 28 steers, 15 lambs and 16 swine up for auction. All animals have been fed top quality feed and have been raised under constant care by their 4-H owners. The meat is as close to natural as you can get, and comes highly recommended by the youth that they have been raised by.

For the last four years CFEK has been providing interest free loans to local 4-H members to purchase their animals. This program has been running with increased success and participation. Recipients of our loans must develop a business plan with a detailed budget for raising their animals including costs such as feed, vet bills, and halters. With the support of their guardians these youth are learning to run and maintain a small business.

CFEK urges the surrounding community to come out to the auction and support our local youth in their business venture of raising and selling livestock. You do have the option of purchasing the whole animal or just a half making it a manageable amount of meat for all sizes of families and businesses. The auction promises to be a fun and entertaining afternoon that the public is welcome to attend. Admission is free, with a concession on site and a buyer’s dinner to be hosted by the 4-H groups after the auction ends.
