The 2015 Scovie Awards judging panel of top culinary experts honored Kootenay Bayou Hot Sauce with a first place win in the Habanero Hot Sauce category, another first place win in the Louisiana Style Hot Sauce category and a second place win in the Medium Heat Hot Sauce category for their Roasted Red X hot sauce. Their winning product was applauded because of its pleasing presentation of flavour, spice blend and texture.

Kootenay Bayou Hot Sauce is located in Invemere, and products can be purchased online at www.kootenaybayou.com and multiple stores listed on the website. They offer three amazing flavours of hot sauce: Roasted Red Hot, Kiwi Tsunami and Roasted Red X.

Competition for the 2015 Scovie Awards was tougher than ever, with a new record of 154 company entries, up from 151 in 2014. The total number of entries came to 790, slightly lower than in previous years.

Dave DeWitt, founder of the Scovie Awards and the National Fiery Foods and Barbecue Show said entries came from 31 US states and five countries including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

“Companies from all over the world continue to recognize the Scovie Awards as the most competitive blind taste tested event in the world,” DeWitt said. “I’m thrilled that participation in the awards continues to increase year after year.”

The Scovie Awards is an annual competition created by DeWitt that recognizes the top fiery foods products in the world. The awards were named after the Scoville scale, a measurement of the spicy heat of a chili pepper. It is one of the most competitive blind tasted food competitions. Hundreds of products are entered and go through rigorous tastings to receive the top honours.Scovie wins
