Cherry Lake wildfire 90% contained
The BC Wildfire Service reports the Cherry Lake wildfire, burning 35 km south of Cranbrook, is now 90% contained.
Discovered August 25, the fire grew to about 1,25 hectares and was aggressively attacked by BC Wildfire crews.
Crews are currently mopping up the perimeter.
“Crews are making good progress on containment, and there has been 25mm of rain in the area of the fire,” BC Wildfire Service reported Sunday.
No other wildfires are currently burning in the East Kootenay.
