City adopts Community Energy and Emission Plan
City of Fernie council adopted the Community Energy and Emission Plan at the January 14, regular council meeting.
The Community Energy and Emission Plan is not intended to act as a standalone document, rather the actions identified should be integrated into broader planning process, such as the current Official Community Plan review. The actions identified in this CEEP are intended to meet the following objectives:
Support continued growth in the community in a manner that facilitates increased active transportation options, energy efficient development and mixed-use neighbourhoods;
Reduce the cost of infrastructure expansion (water, wastewater and streetlights);
Insulate current and future residents to increasing energy prices;
Address market trends towards accessibility to recreational and business amenities;
Identify economic development opportunities;
Further the development of the Fernie ‘brand’ of a vibrant and active community.
