City must bypass into river
Public Notice – Bypass to Elk River
The City of Fernie advises area residents that due to heavy rains it is necessary to temporarily bypass treated effluent to the Elk River in order to dispose of excessive amounts of storm water in the sanitary sewer collection system.
The bypass will take place November 22 to December 6, in accordance with the Ministry of Environment Operating Permit.
