Updated: Missing three-year-old found in Whitefish

UPDATE: The missing three-year-old boy from Sparwood, Alvin Barnett, believed abducted by his father Robert Barnett, was found at 7 a.m. today in Whitefish, Mont. He was safe and sound.

ORIGINAL: Elk Valley RCMP have issued an Amber Alert in its efforts to locate three-year-old Alvin Barnett, reported missing from a Sparwood area hotel during a supervised parental visit on Thursday November 15.

On November 15, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Elk Valley RCMP received the report of a parental abduction. Robert Barnett, 39, left his hotel room during a supervised visit with his three-year-old son, Alvin. Barnett and his son failed to return to the room at which time police were notified. The investigation has revealed that Barnett has taken his son and crossed into the United States.

Elk Valley RCMP are currently working in conjunction with Law Enforcement authorities in Montana in attempts to locate Barnet and his son.

Descriptors: 3 ft 2 inches 35 lbs, male wearing red shirt and blue jeans
Police are also looking for the father of the boy:
Robert Barnett (pictured above)

Hair: other
Eyes:green
Race: Caucasian
Descriptors: wearing dark sweater, blue jeans, runners. Possibly unshaven with some facial hair. Reddish blonde hair colour. Has a scar above his right eyebrow.

Police are also searching for the following vehicle described as: 2002 blue Subaru Outback BC Lic 347SBL.

Anyone who may have seen Alvin Barnet or Robert Barnett or this vehicle is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
