Flagger struck by vehicle
A flagger, working as a subcontractor on the City of Cranbrook fibre optic project is in hospital this afternoon, after being struck by a vehicle late Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred on 9th Avenue South between Baker Street and 1st Street South, just before noon, where the contractors installing the fibre optic cable were working in the alley behind Baker Street.
The flag person has been transported to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time. No name has been released.
The contractor has stopped all fibre optic related construction activities and is assisting RCMP investigators with controlling the scene and providing reports. Worksafe BC has also been notified of the incident. No further details are available at this time.
