Highways closed by fire and accident
A forest fire north of Spillimacheen has closed Highway 95 and shortly after the closure an accident closed Highway 93 south of Radium Hot Springs.
DriveBC is reporting that Highway 95 is closed in both directions from Radium Hot Springs four-corners to Golden (105 km) because of a forest fire.
Local traffic only can proceed as far as 19 km north of Brisco. Alternate route for people heading to the Columbia Valley can be accessed via Highway 93 (through Kootenay National Park).
Shortly after the announcement that Highway 95 was closed, another closure was announced two kilometres south of Radium on Highway 93 due to a vehicle incident.
Highway 95 is still subject to some delays as bridge construction continues at Luxor Creek, 19 km north of Radium. Work is expected to continue there until November 15. The road is reduced to single lane alternating traffic with the use of traffic lights. This will be in affect 24 hours a day seven days a week.

At time of publishing there is another forest fire, about 25 hectares in size, burning southeast of Baynes Lake in the Elk Valley.
