About 600 Fernie and area residents, including a good dose of visitor enthusiasm, entered ‘Ashrama’ August 24 and 25 in a bid to form the longest yoga chain in the world.

The highlight of Fernie’s first ever Yoga Festival, held in conjunction with the Downtown Summer Socials Series, the Guinness World Records effort fell about 100 people short.

The standing record is 693 and the Fernie attempt (held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 25) attracted just over 600.

Along with live music, fire spinning and dancing, Fernie’s vibrant yoga scene participants and many others created a unique experience in downtown Fernie.
