One killed in Trans-Canada crash
On December 29, at approximately 11:30 p.m. Golden RCMP were notified of a head-on collision involving two commercial vehicles on the Trans-Canada Highway.
One driver was deceased on scene while the second driver was airlifted by STARS to Calgary’s Foothills Hospital in critical condition.
Highway 1 remains closed to commercial vehicles between Golden and Revelstoke at this time for vehicle recovery. DriveBC notes the recovery and site cleanup is “presenting significant challenges.”
A local detour is available to non-commercial vehicles.
DriveBC’s last estimated time of opening is between 12 and 2 p.m. MST, Dec 30.
