One rate for all nears at WFP
People using Western Financial Place (WFP) will soon be paying the same fees when City of Cranbrook council passes a bylaw abolishing the current resident/non-resident fee structure.
City council last night (March 23) unanimously approved the first three readings of Cranbrook Leisure Services Fees and Charges Bylaw No. 3817, 2015, which adjusts Leisure Services fees and charges.
“Adjustments to the Leisure Services fees and charges will result in a decrease to revenues of approximately $35,000 to $40,000 annually. Approximately $20,000 of this amount is reflected in Sports Pass purchases, while the remainder represents the additional fees non-residents paid for services such as aquatic admissions. It is expected that over time, increased usage from non-residents will gradually increase revenues, offsetting some of this initial budget impact,” states a Leisure Services report to council.
“Earlier this year council directed staff to remove the resident/non-resident fee structure so all users of Leisure Services programs and facilities, regardless of where they reside, are charged the same rates that Cranbrook residents currently pay. The proposed bylaw reflects this, and goes further to remove the Sports Pass as it is no longer required,” the report explained.
