Police still looking for hit and run vehicle

Cranbrook RCMP is still looking for a white pickup truck that struck a child yesterday afternoon around 2:45 p.m.

RCMP were called to 21st Avenue yesterday where a person had been hit by a truck that then fled the scene.  Two young females had been walking their bikes along the road when a passerby heard a thud and saw one of the girls lying in the street. The witness attempted to go after the suspect truck until the truck sped away at a high rate of speed and ran a stop sign.

The young female underwent surgery for her injuries and is recovering in hospital.

“This is a young person who was out enjoying the last of the nice fall weather.  Little did she know she would end up in the hospital with serious injuries.  We are looking for any information with regard to this incident.  If you were the driver of the truck, or know the driver, please contact the Cranbrook RCMP.”
