Push on to bring air show back

A big time air show costs a lot of money to organize and stage.

Air show organizers and volunteers, as well as business supporters are currently selling raffle tickets, with five major prizes up for grabs, including a return flight for two to any where that WestJet flies, one night accommodation and golf for two at St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino, $750 cash, a $600 gift basket and a family pass to the 2016 air show.

City of Cranbrook Mayor Lee Pratt gave the fundraising effort and air show a shout out at the conclusion of last night’s council meeting, noting he took two booklets of raffle tickets to sell (10 tickets per booklet) and he challenged council members to do the same.

“I’m hoping you will all accept my challenge,” he said.

Coun. Danielle Cardozo quickly accepted. “If each store in Cranbrook took one book of tickets, we’d raise enough” to bring the airshow back, she said.

She then challenged local businesses, through her employer, Jim Pattison Broadcast, to get involved and lobbed out a juicy carrot.

“We’d like local businesses to contact Stephen Romanick to pick up ticket booklets. The business that sells the most tickets will receive a $1,000 advertising campaign package from Jim Pattison Broadcast Group,” she told e-KNOW.

If you’d like to rise to the challenge, contact Stephen Romanick at [email protected] or phone 250-417-9037.
