Compact snow with slippery sections.

That’s what you can expect on East Kootenay highways this afternoon, according to DriveBC.

Every highway in the region is currently listed as having “compact snow with slippery sections” from the 4-8 cm of snow that fell last night and continues to fall in most areas.

“Plowing and sanding is in progress, winter driving conditions prevail throughout. Expect slippery and slushy sections. More snow is expected throughout the day with some forecasters calling for 10 cm or more though others are saying around five cm. Colder temperatures are forecasted for tonight particularly in the Crowsnest, Elk Valley and Rocky Mountain Trench (Cranbrook north) areas,” Mainroad East Kootenay reported earlier this afternoon.

East Kootenay weather is expected to stabilize over the weekend with a few flurries possible.
