30 homeowners sought for pilot program

Based on our prior climate action work in the Columbia Valley, with the East Kootenay Energy Diets, Accelerate Kootenays, and Building a Legacy program, the Community Energy Association is undertaking a pilot program as part of the Kootenay Clean Energy Transition to increase heat pump retrofits in single family homes in the Columbia Valley.

We are looking for 30 homeowners that are interested in switching out their oil, propane or electric baseboard heating to a more efficient (and climate friendly) air source heat pump. We  will support homeowners through every step, from accessing an energy advisor and finding a qualified contractor, through to installation and applying for rebates.

A webinar for homeowners to discuss the benefits of heat pumps and the pilot opportunity will take place the evening October 7.

We will also support local HVAC and Refrigeration professionals to learn from experts and peers on quality heat pump design and installation, access local heat pump training and wage subsidies and stay ahead of changing industry requirements and customer expectations. The first contractors’ webinar will take place the morning of October 7.
