This past week, August 27 through September 2 the Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 87 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files our officers responded to.

Kayaks stolen

Sometime between 4 and 5 p.m. on August 26 two Pelican kayaks were stolen from an area near the Radium mill. One of the kayaks was yellow with a white bottom and the other was orange with a white bottom.

Unlocked Mercedes SUV stolen in Windermere

On August 28, a resident of Windermere reported his white 2016 Mercedes SUV was stolen from his residence on Holland Creek Ridge Road sometime over the night. The owner had left his keys in the unlocked vehicle as well as two sets of golf clubs. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbia Valley RCMP.

Vehicle B&E in Fairmont

On August 28, a resident of Fairmont Hot Springs reported someone had gone through his vehicle overnight and stole four pairs of sunglasses and numerous CDs. Although the owner thought he locked the doors there was no damage to the vehicle to indicate any forced entry.

Wallet stolen from unlocked pickup

On August 28, a resident of Windermere reported someone had gone through his unlocked pickup truck overnight and stole his wallet. The owner’s wallet was later recovered in Canmore. Police continue to investigate.

Suspicious parking lot lurker in Radium

On August 28 at 6 p.m., police received a report of a male checking vehicle doors in the parking lot of the Best Western in Radium Hot Springs. There was no description provided for the suspicious male. Patrols were made of the area but the male was not located.

Customer assaults staff at Radium business

On August 31 at 1:40 a.m. officers responded to a report of a customer assaulting staff at the Horsethief Creek Pub in Radium Hot Springs. Upon arrival, officers arrested a 54- year-old male who was being restrained by staff members. The male was transported to cells where he continued he aggressive and belligerent behavior. The investigation is ongoing.

Unlocked car stolen in Invermere

On September 2 nd an Invermere resident reported his 2005 blue Toyota Corolla was stolen from his property on 13 th Avenue. The unlocked car was stolen sometime between 6 p.m. on September 1 and 11:30 a.m. on September 2 . Anyone with information is asked to contact Columbia Valley RCMP.

Kids back in school reminder

Children are back to school this week and Columbia Valley RCMP are reminding motorists that school speed zones are back in effect. The speed limit in school zones is 30 km/h from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise posted.

Drivers are also reminded that when a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing, drivers in both directions must stop. The fine for passing a school bus with its lights flashing is $368.
