This past week, December 30 through January 5, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 67 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files to which our officers responded.

Batteries stolen from national park

On Monday, December 30, an employee with Kootenay National Park reported several batteries were stolen from a shed in the park sometime between December 21 and 22.

Single vehicle rollover on Highway 93

On Thursday, January 2, at about 1:45 p.m., Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 93 near Marble Canyon in Kootenay National Park. A Chevrolet Blazer was located on its roof in the northbound ditch. The driver and her three children made their own way to the Banff Hospital to be assessed for minor injuries prior to emergency crews arriving. The driver reported losing control of her vehicle as another vehicle was passing her.

Intoxicated youth found and placed in care of his family

On Sunday, January 5, at about 3 a.m., Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of an intoxicated male on Fairmont Street in Windermere. Police located the intoxicated youth and released him to the care of his family.
