Edgewater broadband project update
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) this morning reported that construction of the Edgewater Broadband Project is well underway.
Here is the latest project update:
- Construction of the fibre optic network is nearly complete.
- The RDEK’s contractor has completed all fibre placement and most of the fibre splicing.
- Homes and businesses will have the opportunity to connect through the network.
- Cypress Land Services will be connecting with eligible property owners over the next few weeks to request the required drop permissions.
- This phase of the project will be done at no cost to the property owner; however, future installations may be at the owner’s expense, so it’s important to act now.
This project is 100% grant funded through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program – Rural and Northern Communities Fund and will deliver fibre optic broadband service into the community of Edgewater.
