Expect delays on Highway 93 in KNP

A bridge replacement project and paving projects means people can expect traffic delays driving Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park the next few months.

Parks Canada is replacing the Haffner Creek Bridge near Marble Canyon. Work is underway from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday, between June 4 and October 31.

A two-way detour bridge will be installed. Expect speed reduction to 30 km/h and possible delays up to 20 minutes.

And paving work between McLead Meadows Campground and Vermilion Crossing, and Stanley Glacier and the Trans-Canada Highway (96 km) is also underway from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday through to about Oct 31.

The road is reduced to single lane alternating traffic with delays to up to 20 minutes.

Another project visitors should be aware of is the Numa Falls bridge replacement and restroom rehabilitation.

There will be no delays to motorists. Estimated opening date is August. Numa Creek Trail (Rockwall access) will remain closed this season.
