UPDATE: DriveBC reports Highway 93 is now open with single lane alternating traffic.  Expect delays.

An estimated seven-week closure of the Trans-Canada Highway east of Golden and subsequent detour down Highway 93 to Highway 95 has just begun and an accident has already closed the detour.

DriveBC reports Highway 93 through Kootenay National Park (KNP) is currently closed in both directions due to a vehicle incident between Marble Canyon Campground and the end of Highway 93 (four km south of British Columbia and Alberta Border).

Expect delays. A detour is not available. An estimated time of opening not available.
