Indian Beach Estates holding FireSmart work bee

Residents of Indian Beach Estates are holding a FireSmart work bee and chipping event on September 24 and those in that community are encouraged to take part.

“Homes should be prepared to survive a wildfire without the help of active suppression efforts. This means preparing before there is smoke on the horizon,” said Local FireSmart representative, Yvan Kathriner.

“By prioritizing FireSmart principles, you are giving your home its best chance at survival. We are excited to see Indian Beach Estates residents working together to make their neighbourhood more resilient to wildfire.”

The event will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, September 24.

The community will meet at the tennis courts to start the day. Residents are asked to bring gloves and safety glasses.

The FireSmart Program offers clear guidelines and simple steps that the public can take to make their homes and properties more fire resilient. To learn more about this event or how to make your home or property more FireSmart, visit engage.bc.ca/firesmart.
