AG Valley Foods donates oven/proofer to DOI

By Stephanie Stevens

There is nothing like the fragrance of fresh baked bread.

The kitchen facility at the Columbia Valley Centre in Invermere was already well appointed, but a generous donation from AG Valley Foods has made it even more so.

District of Invermere (DOI) Mayor Al Miller took a moment to recognize the donation of a commercial proofer and oven to the DOI for the new community hall at the Jan. 14 meeting.

“Eric and Greg (Lapointe) from AG were doing some renos to their kitchen and offered up the oven/proofer to us,” Miller said.

Greg said when they bought the oven during a renovation around 2008 it was worth about $17,000.

“I was researching what it was worth on Kijiji and Mom remembered the community centre needed kitchen stuff and decided to see if they wanted it.”

The answer was yes.

“They are in the hall now and we sure appreciate them,” said Miller.
