And it is a go.

The District of Invermere (DOI) is ready to move forward with the purchase of the Lake Windermere Resort properties after the results of the Alternative Approval Process (AAP) were presented to council at its regular scheduled meeting April 23.

Of the 118 responses received by the DOI by the April 15 deadline, seven were rejected and 111 accepted. Those numbers translate into 4.5% of the estimated 2,398 eligible electors who voiced opposition to the purchase, less than half of the 10% that would have been required to force the DOI into a referendum.

With those results the council voted unanimously to adopt Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 1557, which will allow the DOI to go ahead with the $5 million purchase.
